Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues:

The accelerating transition toward clean energy systems has become a global priority for achieving carbon neutrality, mitigating climate change, and promoting sustainable economic development. Renewable energy technologies—including solar, wind, hydrogen, bioenergy, geothermal energy, and advanced energy storage systems—are reshaping energy markets and driving low-carbon transformation worldwide. However, the large-scale deployment of clean energy also raises critical challenges related to resource management, environmental sustainability, water security, infrastructure development, and economic competitiveness.

At the same time, many economies remain highly dependent on coal and other fossil fuels, creating complex environmental and socioeconomic challenges. Water pollution from energy production, carbon-intensive industrial activities, and legacy environmental impacts continue to threaten ecological sustainability and public well-being. Addressing these issues requires integrated approaches that combine technological innovation, environmental governance, economic incentives, and sustainable policy frameworks.

This Special Issue aims to advance knowledge on the role of clean energy in fostering sustainable development and carbon neutrality. It welcomes interdisciplinary research that explores the interactions among clean energy deployment, environmental protection, water sustainability, and green economic transformation.
