The 2nd Energy Innovation Conference 2026 Concludes with Landmark Success

From May 15 to 17, 2026, the 2nd Energy Innovation Conference was successfully convened in Beijing, China. The prestigious event was organized by the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology, the International Society for Energy and Environment, the China Energy Society, and the Beijing Energy and Environmental Society.

The conference was hosted by a consortium of leading academic institutions, including the School of Sustainable Energy at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Henan University, Tsinghua University, the State Key Laboratory of New Textile Materials and Advanced Processing, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, the designated academic journal, Clean Energy Science and Technology, the School of Chemistry at Beihang University, Shanghai University of Electric Power, Beijing Institute of Technology, and North China Electric Power University.

Under the theme “Innovation Drives Energy Transition, Technology Leads a Green Future,” the conference featured a high-level main forum and ten specialized parallel thematic sessions. These sessions addressed critical frontiers in the global energy landscape: Geological Energy Storage, Molecules Shaping the Future: Novel Green Energy Chemistry and Catalytic Conversion, Energy Storage Materials and Hydrogen Energy, Polymer and Fiber-based Energy Materials, AI-Empowered Development of New Power Systems, Clean Energy Technology and Equipment, Nano-functional Materials, Thermal and Power Engineering for Advanced Power Systems, Advanced Rechargeable Batteries, Postgraduate Presentation Session, Zero-Carbon Industrial Parks and Urban Energy Transition.

The event attracted over 300 distinguished participants, including domestic and international academicians, renowned scholars, industry titans, and key R&D personnel. More than 100 outstanding research papers were collected, fostering rigorous dialogue on technological R&D and industrial implementation. To maximize global reach, the proceedings were streamed live, ensuring a seamless integration of online and offline engagement under the framework of the "Dual Carbon" goals.

The grand opening ceremony was held in the third-floor multi-function hall, presided over by Zhang Xiulong, Secretary-General of the China Energy Society. The conference was graced by a stellar assembly of scientific leadership, including Wu Qiang, President of the China Energy Society, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Han Buxing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guo Xusheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Li Jinghong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. International perspectives were represented by high-level officials and experts, including Saidkomil Saidmurodov, Chief Expert of the Electricity Production Department at the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. Their collective dialogues on energy innovation underscored the conference’s profound international influence and its standing as an authoritative voice within the industry. In a series of compelling addresses, multiple distinguished guests explored the nuances of the clean energy transition, effectively fostering a high-level industry consensus on the pathways toward a sustainable future.

Academician Wu Qiang emphasized in his address that innovation is the core catalyst for the "Dual Carbon" transition, noting that the synergy of global expertise would drive breakthroughs in modern, safe, and efficient energy systems.

Academician Han Buxing highlighted the vital link between green chemistry and global sustainability, calling for the deep integration of industry, academia, and research.

Representing the international community, Saidkomil Saidmurodov shared Uzbekistan’s advancements in power transition and expressed a firm commitment to bilateral energy cooperation with China.

Furthermore, Chen Qingquan, Academician of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) and President of the International Society for Energy and Environment, delivered a video message advocating for global collaboration and the sharing of clean energy technologies to achieve mutual innovation.

As a core organizing partner, the journal Clean Energy Science and Technology played a pivotal role in the academic curation and dissemination of research findings.
