Abstract

This research paper analyzes how technological innovation affects sustainable energy in solar microgrids and the moderating role of green supply chain management (GSCM) practices. The study examines technological innovation across three dimensions—process innovation, organizational innovation, and marketing innovation—and their effects on sustainable energy performance in solar microgrid systems. A quantitative research design is adopted using a conceptual framework that links technological innovation, green supply chain management, and sustainable energy performance. Data is gathered from professionals working in renewable energy firms and solar infrastructure organizations. Structural equation modeling with Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) is applied to test the proposed relationships and the moderating role of GSCM practices. The results indicate that technological innovation significantly improves sustainable energy outcomes in solar microgrid systems. In addition, green supply chain management practices moderate the relationship between technological innovation and sustainable energy by strengthening environmental practices and resource efficiency. The findings are informative for renewable energy firms, energy planners, and policymakers seeking to enhance the sustainability of solar microgrids. The integration of technological innovation with green supply chain management can improve operational efficiency and environmental performance in decentralized energy systems. The study contributes to the renewable energy management literature by incorporating both technological innovation and GSCM into the solar microgrid context, offering fresh insight into how technology and sustainable supply chain activities collaborate to advance sustainable energy.
